HELLO!!! I'm Jeff Brown, but most of you will know me as Safestyle UK's Window man (you know the one!) in their TV and Radio ads for double glazing, windows and doors! Well, there's a bit more to me than just shouting BOGOF! at you all the time, so here's my own official personal blog with info about me and all the latest news on what I've been getting upto - read on, I said READ ON!!!

Window Man chasing the limelight!

29th September 2009

Hello, I’m back, and what a busy time it’s been! I was filming another new Safestyle TV commercial and the funny thing is I had a stunt double who had his head shaved and a wig and when I first saw him walk out, I thought “Who’d have their hair like that?!” There was a huge chase scene, a daft dog called Ziggy and a new Director, the “mystery man.” They even had some mock-up £50 notes with my face on them! I had been looking forward to the day and really enjoyed the shoot, but it was physically intense - I got cramp and all sorts that night, but things happen in showbiz!

Then on the Saturday I was MC-ing at the Winchester Working Men’s Club at Hapton, where we also had a raffle with Burnley shirts and football stuff, there was a band on called Crush, and we raised about £1,500 for the Help for Heroes charity.

When Burnley played Sunderland and beat them 3-1, I was compere that day in the 1882 Lounge with 150 people – a nice mix of Burnley and Sunderland fans, and the game was live on Sky TV.

For the Safestyle Window Man tour, I’ve been at Maidstone, Romford and Reading and now I’m in Doncaster, buzzing our lads up and making sure the Safestyle energy saving double glazing message is being broadcast as loud as possible across the land!

I was also attending the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster for my son’s American Football team, the Lancashire Wolverine Colts, who went up against the Farnham Fastlane Knights – in the final of the British championships, the “Britbowl!” The Knights beat the Wolverines 16-0, but nevertheless it was a great day and great achievement for both teams to reach the final.

Your canine-friendly
Window Man, Jeff

Wonder week for Window Man!

25th August 2009

Phew, it’s been hectic! The duck race at Roughlee went brilliantly, I arrived there fully suited and booted, yet ended up in a yellow poncho and hat, looking like a duck! On the day, the weather was OK and I was put on a trike and driven me through a little village to where the duck race was to begin! There were about 300 people in attendance and 600 ducks taking part, and I set the yellow balloons off to start the race. Then, as the ducks started bobbing away, I ran down the side of the river, with literally a running commentary! From there I returned up to the local village hall, where there was barbecue, copious amounts of booze, I did a bit of a speech, then the raffle, and a spot of stand-up (I was brilliant an’ all!).

I finally got the phone call last week that the duck race raised £1180, which is a record! It really was a fantastic event! There was one particular man there, a mature fellow, who said to me, “I had reservations about coming tonight, because all I see of thee is shouting, but tonight you’ve thoroughly entertained me and made me laugh! And not a single swearword!” How’s that for praise?! I was a bit giddy on my way home in the taxi!

      Safestyle UK's
Window Man is
over the moon in
a wonder week!

On my usual visits around the country for Safestyle UK, I went to see the lads at Manchester, Stoke, Wolverhampton and Blackburn. Like everyone at Safestyle, they’re on a mission to rid the world of draughty, leaky, rotten and even infested windows - sending out the message about Safestyle energy saving windows, the very cutting edge of double glazing technology!

When Wednesday came, it was Burnley vs Man Utd, and I’d been looking forward to this ever since Burnley were promoted into the Premiership and this fixture was announced! I was compere at the European suite of Burnley, while we witnessed our little old Burnley, my small team, beat the mighty Manchester Utd, 1-0! The wonder strike was scored by ex-Bradford City player, Robbie Blake - a class act!

And to cap a wonderful week off, on Sunday I was compere again when we played Everton FC, and we beat them 1-0 too! The coincidence is that in both games the opposing team missed a penalty! And, as we left the football ground to celebrate, a cheer was heard, and when we asked someone, we found out that England had regained the Ashes! Priceless!

What a great week that was!

Yours over the moon,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

Back to the floor with the Safestyle Window Man!

7th August 2009

Join the Safestyle Window Man at the duck race!Hello again! Did you see yours truly the Window Man on Sky TV’s FanZone, on Saturday? I met up with Lindsey and Andy and we saw over 40 Burnley fans, asked them a few questions, and then they each proceeded to commentate on a few Burnley goals played back for them on the TV. Men, women, boys and girls of various ages, all proper Burnley fans, took part and I enjoyed their enthusiasm for the club and the game. It was great fun! The lad who then won it, Kev Clarke, was very good (love the hat!).

I wasn’t too pleased with the friendly result that day, where we got beat 2-1 by Leeds (not happy at all!), but at least we won’t be seeing them for a bit as we begin our Premiership campaign next Saturday (at Stoke City), then the famous Man United will come to Turf Moor! That is a really exciting prospect (an easy 3 points!).

As I said, I visited the factory the other day, and wow, what a reception - it’s got so much bigger since the last time I was there (shooting a TV ad), and I liked the glass shop best, it was great to see! The people who greeted me so nicely were all genuinely pleased to see me and I thanked them for all their hard work bringing us the best windows and doors in the country!

As I said back on 9th July, I will be at the Roughlee duck race on Saturday 15th August for a barbecue and a nice time, and of course the duck race itself! I have the honour of being there to set off the first ducks, and I’m sure it’s going to be a fun time and a nice day our for all the family – for more details ring 01282 614755 – check it out!

Yours ducking for cover,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

Window Man lights the blue touch paper!

30th July 2009

Hello and welcome back! I seem to be having some competition in the Safestyle TV ad arena with a new character emerging, but I don’t want to say too much right now – needless to say, you’ll know him when you see him! But don’t worry fans, my new blockbuster will be storming your screens before too long – look out!

This week, I’ve already visited Safestyle Nottingham and I will also be going to Hull, to deliver brand new Safestyle-branded T-shirts and sweatshirts! Then I’ll be Sheffield on Friday, and in the afternoon I’m making a surprise visit to our factory in Barnsley, Safestyle Manufacturing – looking forward to see some windows and doors being made, and meeting the excellent people we’ve got there!

     Check out the
Safestyle Window
Man on Sky
Sports FanZone!

It’s chucking it down as I speak, but our brave heroic Safestyle Canvassers are out there knocking doors and spreading the Safestyle energy saving message all our the country. It’s a difficult job, you know, and every time I meet our guys, it never fails to impress me just how dedicated and committed they are. Nice one to all!

I was at the friendly football match on Tuesday night, between Burnley and our old friends Accrington Stanley, which was a fund-raiser for them – but this time I had no commitments and was just able to sat back, relax, and enjoy the game. It finished with a nice even 2-2 (we were losing 2-0 at one point though, but then we decided to finally start playing!).

On Saturday I will be presiding as one of three judges in “Burnley’s Got Talent” which is being organised by Sky Sports FanZone. It’ll be like the Britain’s Got Talent / Pop Idol shows, where fans come into the room to face the judges, we’ll ask them a few questions, and they’ll commentate on a couple of Burnley goals as if they were themselves commentating on FanZone. The judges will then give a bit of feedback (mainly positive as it must be quite daunting - unless they’re really horrendous!) and then end at 2.30 ahead of the Leeds friendly. The plan is to announce the winner on the pitch at halftime, and Sky Sports News will be covering the auditions. So if you think you’ve got the talent, contact the FanZone and attend the audition. I think I might like to sport my Burnley shirt!

Yours on fire,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

Top knock for the Safestyle Window Man!

21st July 2009

Hello and welcome back to the Safestyle Window Man blog! If you’re wondering what I’m up to these days then this is the place to be! I’d like to thank everyone who has taken the time to email me and say hello, I do try to reply to as many as possible though sometimes it’s just not possible with my busy schedule! But keep ‘em coming and let me know what you think, any comments and suggestions are welcome.

I was in the Midlands last week, visiting Coventry, Birmingham, and Edgbaston, on my Safestyle tour. We are really working hard in the Midlands, so a big shout to the lads out there, and also Brendan!

Cricket and the Lancashire lads, James Anderson (who hails from my home town, and they call him the Burnley Express!) and Freddy Flintoff, single-handedly won the test match at Lords for England against Australia, for the first time in 75 years. Nice one!

As for Safestyle windows, this week I’m going to be in attendance at Leeds, Doncaster and Preston, while on Friday I’m at a really top do in the Midland Hotel in Manchester, hosting a society wedding (sorry but I’m not allowed to give any further details about whose wedding it is). Then Saturday I will be a VIP guest at a “cage fighting” type match at Burnley Football Club (don’t worry, there’s no way I’m getting in the ring myself!) - I do like boxing, but this is the first time I’m attending this type of sporting event, so I wonder what I’ll make of it!

My son the American Footballer, Joshua, will be having trials in Bristol to see if he can get into the Great Britain team, his position being Right Guard (thought that was an air freshener?!) in the “Offensive” line (but he’s a nice lad, really!). See you soon!

Yours hitting sixes,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

Window Man joins the duck race!

9th July 2009

Hi again! What’s the Safestyle Window Man been up to lately? Well my tour of the nation has kept me busy as usual, I was in Bradford yesterday, today I’m in Chester, and tomorrow Huddersfield – look out for me there (you might hear me coming)! We’ve also been having meetings, planning and scripting new TV ads, which is all exciting stuff! The Safestyle “July Jungle Madness” is kicking in, where the prizes for group winners include go-karting and paint-balling - with me! Oh, I know I’ll be a targeted man for sure!

Last week I went to the Accrington College for a prize-giving as my son achieved the fantastic accolade of Student of the Year, so I’m a very proud dad as you can imagine! He is aiming to go to university.

Join me for a
fantastic day out
at the Roughlee
duck race!

On Saturday I was walking on Ilkley Moor (singing “On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at!”), perusing around the shops in Ilkley, buying things as you do, and getting recognised in the process (you know, people shouting “You buy one, you get one free!”). It’s always fun! I wish they’d give me the BOGOF deal as well!

Now you might be interested to know I will be attending the Roughlee duck race and BBQ in Roughlee village, Pendle, probably most famous for its witches! In the race they set off plastic ducks in the river to raise money for charity, and I will be there to start it off! It’s on 15th August, please come along and check it out, it will be fun for all the family!

I’m also enjoying the cricket at the moment, and the Ashes have started - any spare tickets please email me, we want to beat the Ozzies! (Maybe we can do a “Spot the Window Man in the crowd” competition!).

Yours around
the country,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

Back to school with the Safestyle Window Man!

2nd July 2009

Hello! To begin, I was Compere at Rossall School in Fleetwood the other day, which is the largest private school in England (not under one roof), it was like Harry Potter! You know it was so big I had to repeat everything twice! And you know the voice on me, so you can imagine how big it was. There was also an ABBA theme night, which raised more than £4,000 for the school just from the auction. Overall it was tough but we got there in the end! Mind you I was sat with Miss Great Britain, which was of course a pleasure (for her!).

These are testing times – I’ve been back to school, now tonight I’m going to college! Accrington College to be precise, but actually it’s for a prize-giving for my son, having achieved a distinction in business, so I’m really looking forward to that. Fantastic!

At Safestyle, I was at Wolverhampton yesterday, and today I’m in Sheffield presenting the Champions League trophy to the winners who’ve won it for the third time, so they can retain the trophy in their branch – a big well done to Phil “the Landlord” Robson and all his “regulars”! Keep shouting the Safestyle energy saving message, helping to educate the nation on energy efficiency – we want to win the war on rubbish windows! I’m going to be in Hull soon, so look out for me there!

Also don’t forget, the new TV ad is coming soon, so look out for that!

Yours buzzing
like a bee,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

Compere-ing the double glazing market

26th June 2009

As part of my Safestyle tour I was visiting Peterborough, Brighton, and Swindon last week, then I took all the Safestyle Canvassers out in Maidstone for a nice curry and drink as a reward for their hard work. Of course they know me very well, and they also have tremendous enthusiasm and love working for Safestyle, so a good night was had by all (it was well worth the six and a half hour return journey!).

On Saturday I will be at Rossall School as Compere, where I will be doing introductions, bingo, raffles and, culminating at the end of the night, an auction. I like to do a bit of “stand up” at such events, within their format of course, I like a bit of ad-libbing with the old “You buy one, you get one free!” catchphrase, they love it! And so do I!

When I Compere at
events, the people
love the BOGOF
catchphrase!

Oh and the Premiership football fixtures have come out now, with Burnley set to play Manchester United in our first home game! I am proper looking forward to it! Especially as I am booked to host Burnley’s European suite, MC-ing for the entire forthcoming season. It will be great!

So what else is coming up? Well there’s the new Safestyle TV ad for energy saving double glazing, which is done and I do like the look of it! There’s also another ad or two in the pipeline to look forward to! And there’ll be some real madness in July – “Jungle, here we come!”

Yours looking
forwards,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

The Safestyle Window Man’s sporting outlook

16th June 2009

Welcome back and thanks to all who have been voting on the Window Man T-shirt poll, I’m starting to consider the results now, but if you haven’t voted, please do!

I’ve been touring still, up and down the country, and today I’ve been visiting Safestyle at Peterborough and Brighton, buzzing our lads up and getting them motivated with the Safestyle energy saving double glazing message – and it seems to be working, as June so far we’re doing very well and it’s mighty impressive. Last week I was at Stoke, Hull, Wrexham and Wolverhampton.

Speaking of wolves, I went to watch the Lancashire Wolverines, who are an American football team that my son plays for. The “Wolverine Colts” proved overwhelmingly strong and won a resounding 40-0 victory against the Sheffield Tomahawks. Being a “true football” fan, I used to think it was a strange game, the American version, but it’s actually quite an impressive spectacle, and with cheerleaders too!

I’ve also been watching the 20-20 cricket, but I’m sulking a bit today cos England got beat by the West Indies, due to the Duckworth-Lewis rule (it started raining!). Anyway, something to look forward to is the publishing of the football Premiership fixtures tomorrow, where my beloved Burnley FC having been promoted and will be competing. I’m excited to see what the fixture list will look like, what with Burnley playing the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool!

Yours in excited
anticipation,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

A few days in the life of The Window Man!

9th June 2009

Hi all and thanks for the nice feedback I’ve been getting, particularly about the Window Man T-shirt poll (see 22nd April below) – if you haven’t already, then please vote!

The other day I was continuing my tour of the country, visiting the Safestyle branches of Maidstone, Swindon, Manchester, and also the Bradford Head Office. I’ve been doing this to help motivate people, get them buzzed up and enthusiastic to tackle all that life brings their way. I was scheduled to start shooting another new Safestyle TV advert, which went on from late evening, all through the night, and it was early morning when we finally finished filming. It took place in the middle of nowhere (Keswick) and I got home for 6am! However, there’s never any rest for the Safestyle Window Man, so it was straight on to continue the tour for Safestyle that very same day!

Here's what a
few days in my
hectic schedule
are like!

Needless to say that by the time I got home in the evening, even my legendary energy levels were flagging somewhat, but I still had an important engagement to attend. I got changed into my James Bond suit (tux and bow tie) and went to the Brian Roche boxing night, where I was the guest ring presenter. The line-up featured Jack Steff, who is expected to debut on 26th June in the Tri Nations between England, Scotland and Wales to crown the British champion (which may have a bearing on the London Olympics in 2012). It was a great evening, and when I finally got to bed I slept like a log!

The next day it was Saturday and time for a spot of shopping, then straight to the York races (lost all my money - £5!). But it was an interesting few days, and just a few in the life of the Safestyle Window Man!

Yours on a hectic schedule,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

New Safestyle TV ad with the Window Man!

2nd June 2009

Greetings to you all! What have I been shouting about lately? Well I’ve just finished shooting a fantastic new Safestyle TV ad! I’m really looking forward to seeing the results because I’m really excited about it, I think it’s going to be great!

Fans will be cheered to know that I’ve donned my red cape again and have been extolling the virtues of Safestyle’s energy saving double glazing, as well as the famous BOGOF offer – you know the one!!! What details can I reveal about the ad? Well, there’s a lot of Safestyle vans, fitters, windows… very noisy! And most of it coming from me!

If you can’t wait and want to see some previously unseen footage, check out the Safestyle YouTube video channel.

I’m still hugely cheerful after my football team Burnley won the play-off at Wembley and has earned the right to play in the top flight, the English Premiership. This sort of thing doesn’t come along every day, so you’ve got to make the most of it and revel in it! I’m so looking forward to next season!

I’ve been getting a good response from the Window Man T-shirt poll, and it seems the overwhelming majority are interested in having one – a T-shirt that is! If you haven’t voted already, please do, see the news item from 22nd April. Let me know what you think!

Yours in TV advertising,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff

Safestyle Window Man over the moon!

26th May 2009

Hello!!! Since last we spoke, I was in nail-biting attendance at Wembley to see my football team Burnley FC’s play-off match, against Sheffield United for a place in the Premiership league. Well I’m overjoyed to report that we won 1-0, and with a strong performance I might add! The goal came from a fantastic first half strike from Wade Elliott, in front of over 80,000 fans in the stadium. There were huge cheers as the crowd roared with joy (and none more loudly than me, as you can imagine!).

I think we fully deserved the success (it’s been a long wait, mind you - 33 years),and now we can look forward to the huge challenge of top flight English football. My mouth is watering at the prospect of Burnley playing the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea… oh, I can’t wait!

What else has TV’s favourite Window Man been up to? Well the latest news from Safestyle is that I’m scheduled to appear in another new ad. From what I’m being told, and the script I’ve been reading, it sounds great and I’m really looking forward to another telly outing as the Safestyle Window Man. It’s nice to be seen on the telly and all the recognition I get from fans, but also spreading the energy saving message that Safestyle double glazing can benefit everyone in these cash-strapped times. Things are looking up, keep an eye out!

Oh, and don’t forget about the Window Man T-shirt poll, below – if you haven’t already done it, vote now!

Yours in great cheer,
Safestyle Window Man Jeff
